Nico, Martin and I talked to Andre after his second session. He said: "I'm gaining strength and hope that I can go home at the end of the week!"

The wonders of skype I am thinking. Brydon, Katherine & Vico are spending the night in Rimouski.

Progress

Katherine lent Andre her ipod and so he now has his music in the hospital.

Everyone is very impressed with the radiologist in Rimouski who is treating them all with respect and dignity.

And turns out that the compression fracture that was diagnosed in R-d-L, isn't. Should make for an even faster recovery.

4 sessions left to go

Andre is feeling much better. The next four radiation sessions are only 5 minutes per day each. He will need to recover from this round for a number of weeks before going back for additional radiation to deal with additional minor lessions that are not considered threatening. Good night all.

When radiation is Good news!

The radiation treatment has begun already . Andre, Brydon and Katherine are in Rimouski where they met with the radiologist who said: "Lets begin this now so that we can get you up and walking again soon"

As it stands now, Andre is going to have 5 rsessions with today's being the longest one. So he should be finished by Thursday. They are saying that the cancer is controllable. He may have to stay in Rimouski after the 5 days are over for observation.

Time to celebrate.... just a little.

Another day

We would like to thank all of you who have phoned St. Pats to find out about how Andre is doing. We have been overwhelmed by the expressions of concern and love. We are trying our best to get back to return people's calls as quickly as possible - but as I am sure you can imagine - the situation is changing quickly and we wanted to have a way to let people know whats going on as quickly as possible.

Andre was taken to the Hospital in Riviere du Loup on Thursday morning complaining of severe back pain. It was diagnosed as a compression fracture of a vertebrae mostly likely linked to a previous bout with cancer Andre had many years ago

He is being transferred to Rimouski on either July 10th or July 11th for 5 - 10 days of radiation treatment.

Today, I am told he ate breakfast and lunch and is doing sudoku.

We will update as this blog as we get more information. And thank you to Declan for setting this up!
